Thats why Adult Swin is awesome. They were the breeding grounds for some of these shows. OH, and cock joke.

The life and times of tim is funny as fuck.

I want to name my dog keith now

Wow MindChamber, that was deep... I need to re-think all of my life goals now... :P

I never really liked home movies but I wish I could see more space ghost (without spending money on DVDs).

I just like South Park because it's one of the few shows out there that really makes me laugh. It's pretty impressive to me they can write and animate a 20-minute episode all in just six days every week. Plus, the art style is kinda creative, even if it's not all that amazing.

Animation and writing is like dancing. If they both compliment each other rather than just one take complete control, the result will be best.

"Ugly" animation doesn't bother me. Animation is about movement, not skilled drawing (most of the 1940's animators knew this; just look at Tom and Jerry, they're just a bunch of circles). Lazy animation, like 99% of cartoons on TV bothers me. A head with a moving mouth is not animation, it's a talking picture. Family Guy is funny, and I watch it because it is, but it rarely has any animation in it...

It's very simple, good writing and good animation together make good entertainment. If you leave one of them out, it will always be inferior to something that has both.

An important point - I seem to be better at writing anyway

Let's sing a song about safety
Cause' safety is pretty important
Look both ways before crossing the street
Don't jump out, in front of that jeep
And watch for the giant lesbian,
Who lives in the sewer
She'll grab your leg (and you won't get away)
Cause her grip is too strong (she works out everyday)
She'll grind your flesh and eat your bones!
Looks like you should've stayed home (that's right)
Maybe you should have stayed home.

'Additionally, there's something to be said about good animation; it can actually be a distraction.'

The exact same thing can be said about bad animation. If it fits what the plot is going for, then there should never be a problem.

Yeah, Home Movies is probably so underated because it's almost never got anything really happening, but I think that show best portrays the life of a kid, because of how the conversations are and such, but yeah.

Also, South Park is Shmexy.

Home Movies > South Park

Good writing and good animation each on their own make good entertainment, but together, make great entertainment. I think you, along with the "aficionados", should concentrate on that, instead of pushing for one or the other. I'm with you about story over animation for entertainment value, though I HAVE been entertained by animation alone. Well, I'll be honest - I'm always entertained by animation alone because I enjoy studying it, but I'd choose story/laughs over nice animation most of the time and the majority of viewers would, too, which is why studios and producers can get away with lazy and cheap animation. I think when people talk about animation written by animators and the "golden age of animation", they're referring to the fact that directors or animators acting as writers were able to write with animation in mind. Producers, writers, and directors who have little hands-on experience with animation, if any, most likely won't use animators properly or to their full extent. Right now, we've got too many writers flushing out toons with just enough animation to pass. Also, I agree, fluid animation can be distracting, but so can bland, stiff, shaky, repetative animation (Dr. Katz), maybe even moreso. Isn't that why so many people here on NG hate Foamy? I would NEVER rely on story OR animation alone. Never. Tom apparently has a great idea in the works to get more "animators" and "writers" together to make said great entertainment. And goddamnit I'm excited to see what it is....

Great Cartoon picks! Home Movies was great before it stopped being squiggly. And well most shows start losin there flare after about 6 seasons or so.

The Simpsons actualy were great for about 15
Southpark about 6
Home movies like 1
Space ghost didn't even really have seasons! And it stayd fresh till it became a GameTap.com thing, and YUCK oh did it get bad at that point. AND SINCE WHEN IS SQUIDBILLYS BEING ON SPACEGHOST! FUCK SQUIDBILLYS!

I need some Ice Cream right now I'm so pissed! Thanks A Lot Demon dude! Real nice!

;)

What's the channel with all of the full episodes of Home Movies?
I love that show
And, it made Brendon Small's and Jon Benjamin's careers

all main stream animation created in the 90s' which are long running have all passed there prime with the exception of southpark coz thats just a ledgend in its own but seriously nowadays familyguy are ripping off old comedy movies because they cant even think of something original i will tell you a good ankimation though is wallace and gromit you cant beat that because in my opinion its the best program for children and adults because it dosent swear and is just great to watch the same as cow and chicken (which is another ledgend) so basically i say we should kill all familyguy writers and replace them with fish that have gillrot because even fish can produce funnier shit than family guy does anyone agree ?

Yeah but for me shitty animation is insufferably boring. There is a threshold, it can be pretty shitty as long as it's funny. But the bulk of Anime, where the characters just sit there while there mouths pop open and shut just kills me. My eyes glaze over and I want to die. South park is watchable. Futurama and the Simpsons actually have some pretty excellent animation. It's not "The Lion King" by any stretch of the imagination but it's certainly good enough to contribute to what makes the shows worth watching.

THIS GUY GIVES A MEAN HEAD!

Home Movie is great. I still watch it.
